Heineken has awarded the PR contract to promote its rugby union tie-ups over the
course of 2007 to sports marketing agency Fast Track.

Fast Track will be tasked with exploiting Heineken’s major rugby sponsorship
properties, the Heineken Cup and Rugby World Cup 2007.

Fast Track was appointed following a competitive three-way pitch and will
start work immediately by exploiting the opportunities surrounding the latter
stages of the Heineken Cup, before concentrating on augmenting Heineken’s
involvement in the Rugby World Cup 2007, the third time they will be an official
sponsor since 1995.

The account win is separate to the existing work that Fast Track currently
undertakes for Heineken International which the agency inherited following its
merger with Lighthouse Communications in early 2006.

Jon Lane, Heineken UK’s sponsorship manager, said: ‘Fast Track coupled an
invaluable depth of knowledge and expertise of the Heineken brand and properties
with their increasing scope of communications delivery to win the business and
we are delighted to have them working on our major sponsorship properties for
2007.

‘This is arguably the biggest year for Heineken’s rugby sponsorships for
some time and we are pleased to have an agency of Fast Track’s calibre on
board.’

Jim Glover, managing director of Fast Track, commented: ‘We are delighted to
have been successful on this pitch and feel it reflects our growing expertise to
undertake sponsorship PR and our ability to combine our strengths across two
core areas of our business, consultancy and communications.’
