Sports marketing agency Fast Track has been appointed by British Performance
Basketball to handle all the sport’s commercial and events programmes ahead of
the London 2012 Olympics.
British Performance Basketball was recently formed by elite funding body UK
Sport in collaboration with Fast Track in an attempt to provide a strong
platform for the sport’s governance in this country.
Under its new retained agency status, Fast Track will conduct research into
developing the attractiveness of British basketball to commercial partners and
the wider public, starting at the highest level of the GB team.
Among the agency’s remit includes a focus on making the sport more
commercially attractive, staging world class international fixtures, and
generating grass roots excitement for and participation in basketball in the UK.
Basketball is set to receive a boost later this year when two NBA sides stage
a pre-season game between the Boston Celtics and the Minnesota Timberwolves on
10th October at The O2 – the venue which will stage the basketball competition
at the London 2012 Olympics.
The performances of British player Luol Deng for the Chicago Bulls in this
year’s NBA play-offs have also caught the attention of the public providing the
sport with a further boost.
