Weichai Power, a Chinese manufacturer, has been revealed as Ferrari’s first Chinese sponsor in a four year deal through to 2016, as part of the Formula One team’s strategy to grow its brand in China. The team also announced the extension of three existing deals with sponsors who have all upgraded their partnership with Ferrari.
Hublot, formerly the official timekepper of Ferrari brand, has now extended its involvement and will become an official sponsor of the racing team, while Kaspersky Lab – a Russian firm – will provide technical support to the team.
Energy drinks firm TNT has also upgraded from official supplier to official sponsor status.
Stefano Domenicali, Ferrari team principal said: ‘These are significant achievements, which alongside the vital support of our long time partners such as Philip Morris and Shell and more recent ones like Santander, strengthen our position going into what will be a very demanding season, from every point of view.’
