Car manufacturer Fiat has extended its partnership with British Cycling, which began in 2009, as the governing body’s official vehicle supplier.
Fiat will continue to be involved in British cycling at all levels until at least 2016, having already support the organisation at the Track World Cups in Manchester, London and Glasgow.
As part of the renewal, the carmaker will provide a fleet of support vehicles for use by British Cycling staff.
Ian Drake, British Cycling’s chief executive, said of the renewal: ‘As a market-leading car manufacturer, we are delighted to have been able to extend our working relationship with Fiat as we look ahead to delivering success in Rio 2016.’
‘Fiat has been a key supporter of our ongoing membership drive and the continuation of this partnership further highlights the strength of the programmes we are running across all of British Cycling – from grassroots participation to elite performance.’
Drake also spoke to sportindustry.biz earlier this month in British Cycling’s #BTSIA Post-Match Interview after claiming the Governing Body of the Year, supported by the Daily Telegraph, at the BT Sport Industry Awards 2013. Check out the full article here.
