FIFA has sent a warning to countries bidding to host the 2018 and 2022 World Cup citing that they are not allowed to do swap votes with other nations.
??The world governing body has responded to reports that an unnamed European nation in the running for the 2018 tournament has agreed a mutual voting deal with a 2022 candidate.
FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke said: ‘There are a lot of rumours around 2018/22, I think we are monitoring efficiently what is done by the nine bidders.’
??England, Russia, Spain/Portugal, Netherlands/Belgium and the United States are bidding to host either tournament. ??
Whilst Qatar, Australia, Japan and South Korea are in contention for the 2022 tournament.??
FIFA’s executive committee is set to vote on the 2018 hosts on 2nd December and will send a reminder of the competition rules to bidders via its ethics committee beforehand.?
