More than 2,000 fans are still owed money by world football governing body FIFA because of a problem issuing refunds for tickets at this summer’s World Cup.??

Fans could buy unwanted tickets returned to FIFA through its website, which would then, for a fee, find a new buyer for the tickets.??

Website organisers had promised to transfer refunds to those returning their tickets to FIFA within four weeks of the 11th July final.

However, more than a quarter of transactions failed when FIFA first attempted to refund up to 21,500 customers.

Match, the ticketing company used by FIFA, has blamed the fans credit cards for the failed transactions, saying that most customers would have changed their card details by now.

FIFA plans to put out a message on its World Cup website, followed by text messages and then individual phone calls, to get hold of the people that are still owed money.
