Sports fans can still get their hands on some of the last remaining tickets to experience the Commonwealth Games – and can buy them over the counter at Glasgow 2014’s Ticket Office.
With less than a week until the sporting competition begins, last-minute tickets across most sports are being released daily as final venue configurations are completed.
More than 1.1million tickets have been sold for the 17 sports and two ceremonies on offer – already making Glasgow 2014 Scotland’s most popular sporting festival ever.
The final seats are becoming available as the very last camera positions, video boards, signage and grandstands are installed.
The ticket price, starting from £15, includes the cost of public transport in the local area on the day of the event.
Most opportunities exist for Boxing, Badminton, Weightlifting, Powerlifting, Lawn Bowls and Squash – especially across the first two days of competition – although there are also a few chances to snap up the last tickets for specific sessions in some price categories in Athletics, Rugby Sevens and the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
David Grevemberg, chief executive of Glasgow 2014, said: ‘We have been delighted with the demand for tickets, but we have always been committed to making the Games available to as many people as possible. While tickets are going fast, there is still good availability across some sports and sessions, offering a chance to watch the best athletes in the Commonwealth in action. The clear message now is – don’t miss out and buy now, before it’s too late, for Scotland’s biggest ever party.’
Tickets can be bought in person at the Ticket Office in George Square, online at tickets.glasgow2014.com/ or by calling 0800 458 2014.
