The Skulpt Chisel fitness device is one of the latest designed fitness accessory to hit the ever expanding market, which helps its user find the best workout for their body type.

The product uses body data to provide advise for optimal workouts, whether looking to lose weight or tone up. The device measures body fat content and muscle quality to get the most out of workouts.

To use the device, the user selects the muscles they want to measure, then spray the sensors with a small amount of water and place them directly on the muscle. It will then calculate body fat and muscle quality before delivering results to a smartphone or tablet.

The device has 12 sensors on the back with configurations and frequencies and sends a small current past the subcutaneous fat and through the muscle fibers, picking up thousands of data points per second. The technology then evaluates the flow of that current to accurately measure the fat percentage per muscle, and rate that muscle’s fitness. It uses algorithms to determine total body fat percentage and total from three muscles: triceps, abs, and quads.

The information will then be used to determine how much progression has been made and what muscle groups still need work.

Initially it was developed for the medical space by co-founders from Harvard and MIT, Chisel’s proprietary technology, Electrical Impedance Myography (EIM), has been used in US research hospitals, validated through dozens of clinical trials and been used in collaboration with NASA.
