Thousands more young people will receive support into work or training as football clubs across the country partner with the Government to deliver the Youth Guarantee, a commitment to ensure every 18-to-21-year-old has the chance to ‘earn or learn.’

The Government has announced a £25 million investment to expand its network of Youth Hubs, which provide personalised employment, skills and wellbeing support in community settings.

The number of hubs will almost double to more than 200 over the next three years, located in venues such as football clubs, libraries and community centres across England, Scotland and Wales.

As part of the expansion, every Premier League club charity is now in discussions with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) about supporting the Youth Guarantee. The English Football League’s EFL in the Community programme and the Rugby Football League have also signed up as new partners.

The Premier League said it was proud to back the scheme. Clare Sumner, the league’s Chief Policy and Social Impact Officer, said “Together we are showing how football is more than a game, reaching those who need support most, helping them fulfil their potential and strengthening communities nationwide.”
