The Football League has created a Family Charter Mark – an official standard
that will be awarded to clubs that have proved they are sufficiently geared
towards attracting families and young fans to football games.
The kitemark, which will be available to all 72 clubs in the Football League,
will be handed out based on an assessment of a family-friendly ticket pricing
policy – in line with the League’s own ‘Fans of the Future’ programme – and
child safety and protection facilities within grounds.
In order to properly assess each club, the Football League will be sending
out ‘undercover’ fans to properly review the facilities and award the kitemark
accordingly.
The Football League will also award one club with the ‘Family Club of the
Year’ award at the end of each season.
The League has long held a commitment to attracting more families and young
supporters to games with the ‘Fans of the Future’ programme allowing more than
500,000 fans to attend Football League games for free since its inception two
years ago.
