The Football Pools has announced that it is now available for customers to play in over 900 WHSmith stores across the country, alongside a new campaign launch.
The launch marks a step in the development of The Football Pools retail strategy and, according to the company, will be supported by its most significant investment in marketing activities for years.
The Football Pools is supporting the launch in WHSmith with a multimedia marketing campaign. The campaign includes TV and radio advertising, which was premiered this weekend during ITV’s Six Nations coverage of Italy v Wales.
The TV ad features Merseyside actor Ricky Tomlinson along with a host of former football stars, including John Barnes, Ray Parlour, Leon Osman and Neil Ruddock.
Conleth Byrne, managing director of The Football Pools said: “We are delighted to bring The Football Pools to UK high street and travel locations, in what marks the start of a significant investment and growth plan for The Football Pools.”
“The Football Pools can be played from just £1 and players can use their skill to predict the outcome of football matches or can play with regular numbers – the choice is theirs.”
“We are really looking forward to the game being more accessible to people who know and love the brand and of course new customers too. We can’t wait to celebrate with our first WHSmith winners.”
The Football Pools, which was founded and remains based in Liverpool, was the company created when Littlewoods and Vernons Pools came together in 2008.
The Pools offers the chance to win a £3m top prize for £1, and can now be played at WHSmith stores, online and via a mobile iOS app.
