A former rugby player is launching a new GPS-enabled app to help people locate healthy meals.

Joel Burgess is preparing to launch Nutrifix, an app which will tell users where the nearest meals are that meet their dietary and nutritional requirements.  Burgess spent years in competitive rugby until a neck dislocation and two operations meant he could no longer play the game.

Using GPS, the app will suggest meals at nearby participating restaurants and cafes, which will meet their own specific requirements such as protein, carbohydrates and calories.

The app has, which had a soft launch in January, already has attracted backing from Just Eat. The soft launch saw 750 members join the up and 9,700 food outlets joining, including Tossed.

Now, the app is launching on Crowdcube to find £150k of crowdfunding to continue its development to begin its full launch. Further developments including shopping list integration as well as partnership with food delivery and takeaway providers are also being considered.

Burgess said: He said: “My own desire to lose weight led me to realise the gap in the market for a product that encouraged healthy choices on the go, working around people’s hectic lifestyles.

“Without the proper support, maintaining a balanced diet can be a painstaking and time-consuming process but, with Nutrifix, I am determined to take the stress out of healthy eating.”
