It has been confirmed that Fulham Football Club’s Craven Cottage will host two World Cup warm-up fixtures at in May, ahead of the FIFA World Cup in Brazil the following month, with Italy and Nigeria to return to the same ground that saw the sides draw 2-2 draw earlier this season (pictured above).

First the Africa Cup of Nations Champions Nigeria will take on Gordon Strachan’s Scotland, who will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to six matches, on Wednesday 28th May at 7.45pm.

Three days later, Italy will entertain Ireland with the match also kicking off at 7.45pm, on Saturday 31st May.

The game will play an important role in Cesare Prandelli’s preparations for Brazil where his side has been drawn in Group D alongside England, Uruguay and Costa Rica.

It will be Ireland’s 14th encounter with the Azzurri, having won two and drawn two of the previous 13 meetings. They have been familiar opponents in recent times, meeting twice in 2010 World Cup qualification, again at a 2011 friendly in Belgium and most recently at Euro 2012.

The Craven Cottage fixtures will form part of the final preparation matches for Italy and Nigeria before the teams head out to Brazil.

Meanwhile, after failing to qualify for the FIFA World Cup, Scotland and Ireland will set their sights on early preparations for the UEFA European Championship 2016 qualifiers.

Tickets for each match are priced from £25 adults and from £10 under 16s and over 65s, with tickets to both games on sale now.
