Brompton Bicycles has appointed endurance sports specialist Fusion Media to handle its UK PR.
The agency’s brief will focus on engaging existing cycling audiences and reaching new urban consumers.
In particular, Fusion will be tasked with further promoting the new Brompton Electric model, launched this year as a complement to the well-known folding bike.
The appointment builds on Fusion Media’s track record in cycling and endurance sports, which has seen it work with brands including Strava, Red Bull, Evans Cycles, Wahoo, Shimano and OVO Energy.
Commenting on the appointment, Adam Tranter, founder and director at Fusion Media, said: “Brompton is a truly iconic British brand and their bikes have become synonymous with urban and commuter cycling in cities across the world. It is difficult, in 2018, to complete a morning commute in any town or city without seeing many of their famous folding bikes. The team are very excited to take the brand to the next level and reach new audiences.”
Carmen Byers, head of marketing at Brompton added: “2018 is a big year for Brompton having just started the delivery of our first Electric bikes to customers. We have appointed Fusion Media to help us reach new audiences who are experiencing the challenges of living or working in modern cities today.”
Brompton bikes have been manufactured in London since 1975. The company is now the UK’s largest bicycle manufacturer, shipping 45,000 units every year.
The brand’s international presence continues to grow, with 80% of its production exported and 12 flagship stores operating worldwide.
