Investment management specialist Gartmore has renewed its sponsorship deal of
rugby legends team the Barbarians.
As part of the new contract, Gartmore will also become the title sponsor of
the match between the Barbarians and the 2007 Rugby World Cup champions, South
Africa on Saturday, 1st December at Twickenham.
‘The Gartmore Challenge’ will see a Barbarian side featuring the likes of
Welshmen Martyn Williams and Tom Shanklin, Australian Matt Giteau and Jerry
Collins and Sitiveni Sivivatu of New Zealand take on a full strength Springboks
side.
Sky Sports has struck a TV rights deal to broadcast the Gartmore Challenge
match live.
Gartmore’s agreement with the Barbarians also includes a match that sees the
World Cup runners-up England, face the Barbarians at Twickenham next summer.
Gartmore’s initial involvement with the Barbarians dates back to 2004 when
the relationship was used to support the launch of the new range of Gartmore’s
MultiManager funds. The extension of the contract will be used in the promotion
of the three-year anniversary of the funds.
