Liverpool and England midfielder Steven Gerrard is to be the new face of a joint
marketing campaign from BSkyB and Sony to promote uptake of their HDTV products.
The two-month campaign is designed to encourage consumers to attend in-store
demonstrations of HDTV at over 300 retailers across the country including
electrical brand Comet, Sony Centres and local independents.
Attendees will be given a free gamecard for a prize draw to win 10 training
sessions for two people with Gerrard, tickets to the UEFA Champions League
final, or Sky HD packages.
These include 10 training sessions for two people with Steven Gerrard, two
trips to this season’s Uefa Champions League final for two people and five
Bravia and Sky HD packages.
Running from February 21 to April 15, the campaign will be the biggest joint
push yet for Sony’s Bravia TV range and Sky’s HD service. It is timed to
coincide with the latter stages of the Champions League, of which Sony is a
sponsor, and will be supported by press ads, radio promotions and PR.
The Promotions Publicity Factory devised the promotion concept while
Gerrard’s involvement was orchestrated by Wasserman Media Group, formerly SFX
Sports.
