eSports business, Gfinity, has appointed Robert Ohlen to the newly-created role of creative director with immediate effect, as the sector continues to grow in numbers and investment.

Ohlen will be tasked with ensuring Gfinity continue to provide innovative and cutting edge eSports spectacles, while establishing its position as the premier choice for gamers and eSports enthusiasts throughout the world.

Robert has over a decade of experience in eSports and is the former CEO of DreamHack, the world’s largest local area network computer festival. After purchasing DreamHack from its two founders in 2006 he led the company through year on year growth to become the largest LAN event provider in the world.

DreamHack’s Winter 2014 event, held in November in Sweden, hosted more than 25,000 visitors.

Neville Upton, co-founder and chief executive officer of Gfinity, said: “This is tremendous news for Gfinity and Robert’s extensive knowledge and experience of eSports speaks for itself. When he took over DreamHack in 2006 it was a fledgling, sub cultural Swedish event and over the next seven years he transformed it into a mainstream eSports event that was and is still the envy of the eSports world.  Robert is a grandee of eSports and is one of the industry’s most recognised personalities and we are delighted he has joined us at Gfinity”

Robert Ohlen, creative director of Gfinity, added: “I am very excited to be a part of the Gfinity team and I believe that we will create a trail-blazing entertainment company for the eSports community. I am here for the players and viewers of eSports, so buckle up, let’s go.”
