Gilbert has signed a partnership to become the official match ball supplier for the inaugural European Rugby Champions Cup and Challenge Cup tournaments, which kick off later this month.
The deal, agreed with European Professional Club Rugby – the newly-formed body that will operate the tournament – will run until the end of the 2016/17 season.
Gilbert already has a strong position in rugby as a supplier of match balls to the Rugby World Cup, Aviva Premiership, France’s Top 14 and Super Rugby, as well as the national teams of Australia, England, France, Ireland, Scotland, South Africa and Wales.
Paul McNaughton, board director of European Professional Club Rugby, commented: ‘Gilbert is the preferred choice of players throughout Europe and is therefore a natural partner for EPCR’s new tournaments.’
The new European competitions begin on 16th October, with the second-tier Challenge Cup match between Gloucester and French side Brive.
