Following reports that Donington Park has fallen into millions of pounds of debt, owner Simon Gillett has insisted that financial problems will not hinder plans to hold the British F1 Grand Prix at the circuit in 2010.
Planning permission was granted to begin a £100m refurbishment in January, which would include a new race control and media centres and a three-mile extension of the track.
Concerns were raised just after construction began on the site, when an audit report revealed the track faced £66.7m of debt, stating that it was unconvinced that Donington could hold such a high-profile race in just over a year.
Gillett, however, has remained steadfast in his claim that Donington will find the £100m funds required to forge ahead on the project.
Donington won the rights to host the British Grand Prix from incumbent track Silverstone in a 10-year deal beginning in 2010.
