A fund has been set up to build a Scottish legacy that will remain after the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Created by the Big Lottery Fund Scotland Committee, chairperson Alison Magee claimed the 2014 Communities fund is aimed at dispersing the benefits of the Commonwealth Games to communities across Scotland.
The fund will provide grants of between £300 and £1,000 aimed to encourage involvement in sport under the 2014 Communities scheme. Funding will also be provided for projects that focus on volunteering and use sport as a way to improve their communities.
The project is much like that set up by London 2012, which has dedicated funds to creating a GB legacy in the build up to the Olympic Games.
