Glasgow 2014 will be broadcast in all 71 competing nations and territories after confirming new television deals in the United States and the Caribbean.
TV Asia, which broadcasts to US-based south Asian communities, has also secured highlights rights.
The last minute deals, completed with less than two weeks until the Opening Ceremony, come in addition to major rights agreements secured with the likes of the BBC in the United Kingdom, Network Ten in Australia and SuperSport across sub-Saharan Africa that will see more than 1.5 billion people have access to the competition.
Glasgow 2014 chief executive David Grevemberg said: ‘Every nation and territory in the Commonwealth will have broadcast access to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and we are thrilled that such a truly global audience will have the opportunity to enjoy the world-class sporting events that will be on offer across 11 days of exciting competition, connecting millions of people to the best Commonwealth athletes going for gold and glory.’
Mike Hooper, chief executive of the Commonwealth Games Federation, added: ‘It means more people than ever will have the opportunity to support their team and join in the atmosphere of the Games.’
