City Football Group has moved Manchester City’s chief business officer, Tom Glick, to its American franchise New York City FC, ahead of its first MLS game in March.
The American becomes president of the new Major League Soccer franchise and will continue to report to Ferran Soriano, the managing director of City Football Group.
New York City FC was formed in 2013 in a collaboration between Abu Dhabi-owned Manchester City and the New York Yankees Major League Baseball team.
The former NBA staffer and chief executive at English club Derby County said: “This role for this club is arguably one of the most exciting in soccer right now. I am thrilled to take up the responsibility and the challenge.
“After two years of laying the foundations for this inaugural season and beyond, we have an incredibly talented team both on and off the pitch. I very much look forward to playing my part in leading and supporting them as we embark on the next and most important stage of our development.”
New York City has also confirmed the exit of Tim Pernetti, its chief business officer.
Pernetti joins WME | IMG as president of multimedia for its college business.
