Golf Punk magazine has been saved from closure after a last-minute takeover of
the struggling title by JF Media – a company owned by former Liverpool and
Republic of Ireland footballer Phil Babb.

Babb was an early investor in the title along with his former Sunderland
team-mates Michael Gray, Thomas Sorensen, Stephen Wright and Jason McAteer, but
now steps in to take full control of the magazine.

It had become evident that the title was suffering from financial
difficulties when finance director Jonathan Stobart left in the summer although
at the time Stobart had denied that there were any issues.

However, it has now come to light that freelance contributors have not been
paid for their latest assignments and some have been told to collect their wages
in cash.
