Sport Industry Group is delighted to announce that the very best sport governing bodies will be recognised at the BT Sport Industry Awards 2016, with the launch of the Governing Body of the Year Award, open to a single sport governing body, or operator of a league or competition.
The Award has revised criteria focusing on three key pillars of the organisation: Leadership, Community and Performance. Entrants do not need to have demonstrated excellence in all of the areas described but should use this to guide their entry. An ethical approach should also be apparent across all aspects of its work.
Nick Keller, chairman of Sport Industry Group, said: “Having consulted with key organisations and individuals within the industry we are pleased to open Governing Body of the Year for entries into the BT Sport Industry Awards 2016.
“The complexities of running a governing body are increasing year by year and it’s clear that the government is now recognising the ability that sport can play in creating a positive role in society. We look forward to rewarding some of the best work across the sector, from grassroots to the elite.”
Entries are now open for the Award, until the deadline on Friday 19th February.
The shortlist for the Governing Body of the Year Award will be decided by a specialist Steering Committee ahead of a separate announcement on Tuesday 1st March.
The Official Shortlist for the remaining categories will be announced on Friday 5th February.
