Grayling  has appointed Nick Hamilton has the agency’s new head of sport following the win of a number of new briefs in the sector.

Grayling signed up golf PR specialists Landmark Media as an affiliate in 2013 as part of the agency’s relationship with both The 2014 Ryder Cup and The European Tour, which are now represented in 12 separate international markets.

Beyond golf, the agency worked with PayPal in the build-up to the Fifa World Cup 2014 activating its Waves for Water initiative worldwide, with support from global ambassador Neymar Jnr.

This summer’s work has also included the delivery of the Fete du Tour experience at the Olympic Park on behalf of Transport for London, encouraging visitors to cycle more often and safely in the capital.

Alison Clarke, Grayling’s CEO in the UK & Ireland, said: ‘Our credentials in sports marketing currently run across a wide range of vertical sectors, sports and events. Nick’s appointment will ensure we can provide clients with the latest insights into sports sponsorship, event promotions and stakeholder and ambassador engagement. Nick’s role will extend across the business and we welcome the expertise and passion he will bring to the team.’

Nick Hamilton added: ‘Grayling has been working in sport for many years and has fantastic experience across a variety of disciplines, from consumer engagement and sponsorship activation to corporate reputation management, property marketing, talent management and sport media relations.’

‘The global sports events this year have again demonstrated the enormous consumer and corporate appetite for sport not only through event attendance and sponsorship but also through online engagement and media content. Our new sports practice will bring the Grayling data-driven approach to sports marketers and we look forward to launching new products later this year that will be integral to our unique approach.’

Prior to joining Grayling, Nick has worked for global agencies including Weber Shandwick and M&C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment, working across the Coca-Cola Fifa World Cup sponsorship, NatWest Cricket, The Football Association and Mobil 1 Racing.
