Guinness has agreed a one-year extension to its partnership with Premiership Rugby, England’s top-tier rugby union competition.
The Diageo-owned beer brand will continue to serve as the Official Beer of Premiership Rugby and its 12 clubs throughout the 2014/15 season, and will also continue as the division’s official responsible drinking partner.
Dominic Hayes, Premiership Rugby’s commercial director, said of the deal: ‘Premiership Rugby is in great shape with increasing numbers of people watching Aviva Premiership Rugby at games throughout the season and on television.’
‘We are delighted to continue the partnership with Guinness, a brand that shares our passion and vision for club rugby, and with the 2013/14 season set for an exciting climax we’ll be working closely to continue delivering great experiences for fans.’
Rory Sheridan, the head of sponsorship for Diageo in Western Europe, added: ‘We’re extremely proud of our longstanding association with English domestic rugby and our continuation with Premiership Rugby during an exciting period of growth for the sport. We’re looking forward to continuing our work with Premiership Rugby and helping fans celebrate days out at the rugby with a great pint of Guinness.’
Guinness already has partnerships in place with the organisers of the Six Nations, as well as the rugby unions of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
Meanwhile, Premiership Rugby has also announced a partnership with StubHub which provides rugby fans with a new place to buy and sell tickets for the Aviva Premiership Rugby Final 2014. The new agreement will see StubHub become the Official Ticket Marketplace of the Aviva Premiership Rugby Final 2014. Also StubHub will be running their ‘Lucky Turnstile’ promotion in the west car park where all fans will have the chance to win a range of prizes.
‘This is a great initiative for rugby supporters as we start the countdown to this year’s Aviva Premiership Rugby Final on 31st May,’ said Premiership Rugby’s commercial director, Dominic Hayes.
‘Tickets can be purchased at face value direct from Premiership Rugby via StubHub. In addition, if a ticket holder cannot attend the event then StubHub provides them with a safe platform to resell their ticket at a price they set.’
