Ducati motorcyclist Nicky Hayden has ruined the marketing plans for the launch of his team’s new 2010 MotoGP bike by posting pictures of it on his website.
Director general of Ducati Motor, Claudio Domenicali, was set to officially unveil the Ducati Desmosedici GP 10 later this week at a glamourous launch event.
However these plans may now be in ruins after Hayden took some photos of the bike on his mobile phone and posted them on the internet.
Hayden admits he could be ‘in the doghouse’ for ruining the launch of his team’s new bike, attempting to defend his decision by stating: ‘When I saw the bike I took a picture on my phone. I should have known better, I was like a kid.’
The 2006 world champion visited the team’s factory for a glimpse of the 2010 MotoGP bike but did not realise the design was meant to be a secret.
Hayden is also likely to feel the wrath of the team’s sponsors, many of whom will have invested significant marketing budget towards the launch.
