Heathrow Express, principal partner of England Sevens, has launched a search for four rugby fans to go galactic at a space training experience with the UK Space Agency.

The experience, in the company of England Sevens stars Tom Mitchell, James Rodwell and Alex Gray, comes ahead of the Marriott London Sevens tournament on 16th and 17th May, whose theme this year is ‘Galactic’.

The winning quartet will be trained for a space mission by experts from the UK Space Agency on 15th April, in a year that Tim Peake becomes the first British astronaut to travel to the International Space Station in over 20 years.

Following a health assessment and briefing from a space flight director, the players and fans will embark on a series of rotations in a centrifuge system, designed to replicate the effect of G force on the body.

They’ll be tested for physical and physiological changes to find out how some of the fittest athletes in the world and members of the public compare to astronauts in training.

As well as the space training experience, the winners will receive two England Sevens shirts and a pair of tickets to the Marriott London Sevens 2015.

The competition is open to anyone aged 18 to 55, with more information on Heathrow Express Rugby Twitter @hexrugby.
