Formula One is believed to have agreed a deal with beer brand Heineken to become a major sponsor of the race series according to media reports.

The deal is believed to be a five-year agreement and worth around £100m, with Heineken receiving a trackside presence beginning with this year’s Canadian Grand Prix on 12th June.

The beer brand would not replace any existing track sponsors and it is also reported to include a partnership with one of Formula One’s teams, with several being issues with requests for proposals.

Heineken already has links to sponsorship with sport, partnering with both the UEFA Champions League and Rugby World Cup.

The new partnership with the Dutch brand follows Max Verstappen’s record-breaking victory in Spain last weekend, who became the youngest ever driver, and the first Dutch driver of all time, to win a Grand Prix.
