It has been revealed that twenty of the 48 games at next year’s Rugby World Cup in England are oversubscribed across all four categories. A ballot system will be put in place for tickets for those games at all prices.
The window for tickets sales closed this Monday, and hopeful fans will find out whether they’ve been successful in October.
England Rugby 2015 chief executive Debbie Jevans commented: ‘We are very pleased with the demand for tickets. It is clear that for many matches, demand has exceeded supply and every one of the 48 matches will go to ballot in at least one of the four price categories. We will be running ballots in the next few weeks to ensure tickets are allocated fairly, ensuring as many rugby fans as possible get tickets.’
International Rugby Board Chairman Bernard Lapasset said: ‘Excitement around Rugby World Cup 2015 is really building with less than a year to go, and the demand for tickets over the past 18 days really shows what a special event it is set to be.’
Remaining unsold tickets will go on general sale in November, however it is likely that these will be in the higher price categories.
