Law firm Howard Kennedy has teamed up with Sport Industry Group to become an official partner of Sport Industry NextGen in partnership with Barclays, which identifies tomorrow’s leaders, rewards their potential and nurtures their talent.
As part of the agreement, the law firm – which provides legal advice and support to clients both domestic and international – will become the official legal partner of Sport Industry NextGen.
The 2017 Sport Industry NextGen Leaders will also benefit from a session with Howard Kennedy as part of the Leadership Package, who will lead a development and training session for the Sport Industry NextGen Leaders aimed at key legal issues and practises relevant to sport business. The session will incorporate a training programme for participants to benefit from group workshops and presentations on legal issues and identifying appropriate action.
Lois Langton and Fiona Hinds, partners and joint heads of HK Sport, commented: “Howard Kennedy has a long track record in acting for sporting professionals and their advisers, and covers every aspect of a sport professional’s career. It is therefore essential that tomorrow’s leaders of the sport industry have a strong understanding of key legal issues and practices, and we’re delighted to be able to share this opportunity with a remarkable group of individuals.”
Advice from the firm spans contracts, recruitment, building a brand, commercial endorsements, and fighting off challenges in disputes. Howard Kennedy also advises on personal matters such as moving overseas, marriage and family issues, reputation management and wealth protection.
Nick Keller, chairman, Sport Industry Group, added: “Law has a key role to play in embracing responsible leadership in the future, both in sport and business. As such, Howard Kennedy is a perfect partner to help guide next year’s group of Sport Industry NextGen Leaders on this journey.”
The 2016 Leadership Package included a workshop at Barclays’ global headquarters, an executive leadership day at Loughborough University London, a 24 hour leadership experience with the Inspirational Development Group at Sandhurst, a private meeting with Tracey Crouch MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Sport, Tourism and Heritage, an annual VIP pass to the Inspired Leaders Network, membership to the Sport Industry Breakfast Club 2016, and more.
