HSBC Private Bank has formed a financial advising partnership with IMG’s stellar golf division, which includes top golfers such as Tiger Woods and Colin Montgomerie.

The deal gives the bank an opportunity to offer its clients the chance to play in pro-am tournaments with some of the world’s foremost golfers as well as providing advisory services to the players.

HSBC is reportedly paying millions in the deal according media reports and the bank is set to boost the prize money of the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship by $500,000 to $2.7m – an event HSBC has agreed to title sponsor next month.

HSBC has strong ties in golf having agreed a deal earlier in the year to become the official banking partner of The Open Championship which next year will return to the Royal St George’s course in Kent on 14th – 17th July.

The bank also sponsors IMG’s World Golf Championships in Shanghai and several golf days in Malaysia and Singapore.

Banking giants HSBC also recently expanded its ties in rugby after agreeing a landmark deal with the International Rugby Board to become the first ever title sponsor of the IRB Sevens World Series.
