Hull FC have been taken over by former Leeds Rhinos president Andrew Thirkill and businessman David Hood.
The announcement ends Adam Pearson’s 13-year reign as the owner of the Super League club.
Back in November, Thirkill and Wood entered into an exclusivity period to purchase the club. Now, Pearson has released a statement confirming the sale has been made official.
Pearson will stay on at Hull in a consultancy capacity with Thirkill becoming chairman and Hood joining the board.
In a statement, Pearson said, “I would like to sincerely thank our board members, off-field staff, corporate partners and our supporters for their incredible support of myself and this great club throughout my ownership across the past 13 years, and I wish the entire club and its personnel every success going forward.”
“It should be recognised that the new shareholders have not only undertaken to inject substantial sums of money into the club, but have also agreed to take no monies from the club for at least a three-year period; no salaries, no management fees, no loan repayments, and no interest.
“Therefore with immediate effect, I am delighted to say that all receipts that come into our club will now be directly benefiting the club, allowing further investment into our playing roster. The club is in a very fortunate position as we look to rebuild.
“I would like to sincerely thank our board members, off-field staff, corporate partners, and our supporters for their incredible support of myself and this great club throughout my ownership across the past thirteen years, and I wish the entire club and its personnel every success going forward.
“I look forward to watching on as a supporter with my family over the years ahead.”
The Black and Whites endured a disappointing season in Super League in 2024, winning just three of their 27 matches. The club also saw its illustrative Grade A status from last year dropped to Grade B for the 2025 campaign when the results of the new IMG grading process were announced last month.
