Nick Humphreys, European sponsorship manager at Budweiser brewer Anheuser-Busch,
has quit his post to take up the position of relationship director at Manchester
United.
Humphreys, who will take up his new role in May, will be responsible for all
of the club’s relationships with its global sponsors reporting directly in to
new commercial director Lee Daley who joins United next week from advertising
agency Saatchi & Saatchi.
Humphreys has been at Anheuser-Busch since 2001 working across the brewer’s
array of brands including Budweiser, Bud Ice and Michelob.
During that time he has led the European strategy on the brewer’s increasing
array of sponsorship properties including last year’s FIFA World Cup and
Manchester United.
Prior to joining Anheuser-Busch, Humphreys spent 5 years in sports marketing
at British Universities Sports Association before moving to TV production
company ‘Gymtrack’ as events manager working on staged sports events.
It is not known at this time whether Anheuser-Busch will be seeking a direct
replacement for Humphreys.
