With just under two months to go until the inaugural men’s player draft, and the start of one of English cricket’s most exciting and significant initiatives, Sport Industry Group is proud to announce Sanjay Patel, Managing Director of The Hundred, as its headline speaker for Sport Industry Breakfast Club on 12th September.
Patel is heading up the 100 ball tournament – a completely new format for world cricket – which is promising eight new city-based franchise teams, stocked with some of the planet’s greatest players.
Debuting in 2020, the tournament is aimed at engaging exciting existing and future fanbases with the sport, and is set to build on the excitement and energy generated by England’s dramatic victory in the 2018 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup just weeks ago. A rethink from the more traditional models of the sport, The Hundred is built to appeal to new consumption habits and engage younger audiences in innovative and exciting new ways.
Patel is set to discuss the ambitions of the tournament, its place within the traditional cricketing calendar and its importance for engaging the next generation of cricket fans around the country. He brings with him a wealth of experience having also previously spent time at major companies including Heineken and Diageo.
The Sport Industry Breakfast Club is the industry’s number one networking event series with four content-led networking breakfasts over the course of the year. Each event welcomes up to 200 guests from across the industry for an interview with a panel of leading figures from the world of sport and business. Already this year the industry has heard from Sean Bratches – Director, Commercial Operations at Formula One – and former England Netball CEO Joanna Adams, with an announcement on November’s guest to be made soon.
