Icc Admits World Cup Venues Concern

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has admitted that work still needs to done on some at Cricket World Cup stadiums in Sri Lanka.

The tournament begins 19th February and the ICC has raised a concern at the progress of construction at some venues.

With work needed on the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium and the Hambantota and R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has now moved the venues for the upcoming series against the West Indies to allow for the construction.

‘SLC wishes to announce that in view of a directive issued by the ICC to the effect that no games should be played at any of the World Cup venues, SLC is compelled to make the above changes,’ read a statement by SLC.

All venues are set to be handed over to the ICC on 28th January.

The World Cup will be co-hosted by India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
