The International Cricket Council (ICC) and HSE Cake have commissioned a graphic artist to promote the ICC Champions Trophy in cities around the UK.
Marvel and DC cartoonist, John McCrea, working with comic strip writer, Ferg Handley, created the stories via a series of cricket themed murals in Birmingham, Cardiff and London at the launch the 50-over international tournament.
Each piece of artwork tells part of a story, which concludes on 17th June at London’s Kia Oval, on the eve of the final, when the murals are brought together in one place for the first time.

Birmingham-based McCrea, an illustrator and comic book artist, has worked for many of the major Western publishers including the big two: Marvel and DC Comics. Originally from Belfast, he has illustrated iconic characters such as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Hulk, Spider-Man, Daredevil, Wolverine, Star Wars, Judge Dredd and the Simpsons amongst others.
Handley is a comic book writer from Edinburgh in Scotland. He has worked in the industry for 20 years, beginning with scripts for DC Thomson’s Commando book line. To date, he has written over 300 Commando issues, and has worked on other titles for the company, including The Dandy and Football Picture Library.
