The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the details of its broadcast arrangements for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, which is taking in Australia from 16th October to 13th November.
ICC TV will produce live coverage of all the matches in the competition and a full world feed service for licensees.
In the UK, Sky Sports has secured a licensing agreement and will be providing live coverage via its Sky Sports Cricket and Sky Sports Main Event channels, which is also available via subscription on the Sky Go app and NOW.
The BBC has secured the live radio commentary rights in the UK.
ICC TV will be supported by its production services partner, UK-based Sunset+Vine, and equipment services partner NEP Broadcast Solutions. London-based sports graphic specialists AE Live will deliver the on-air graphics for the coverage.
Coverage will include a pre-match show, an innings interval fill and a post-match wrap-up with English cricketer Eoin Morgan, the last captain to lift the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, who will be making his ICC TV commentary debut.
The coverage will include a minimum of 35 cameras at every game and a number of new analytical and visual enhancements for viewers, which includes Field 360°, a virtual field model powered by an AI enabled live player tracking engine, which is used to track fielding positions and team strategy.
ICC TV will also produce a host of additional content off the field of play, to be distributed to its media rights partners via the ICC TV Content Delivery Service.
Eoin Morgan said, “This is one of cricket’s most exciting tournaments and the players will be raring to go out there and show what they are capable of. It’s going to be a very competitive event with teams adding new skills in a format evolving at a rapid pace. I’m looking forward to being a part of the action in my new role as a broadcaster.”
With Sky Sports securing licensee rights for the UK and New Zealand, Fox Sports has signed a deal to broadcast the competition in Australia, ESPN+ will broadcast in the US, and Star Sports has secured the Indian rights.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 begun on Sunday 16th October, with Namibia and Netherlands securing the first wins of the tournament.
Scotland kicks off its tournament on Monday 17th October, with England playing its first match on Saturday 22nd October.
