Cricket’s world governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC), and tournament hosts, the England and Wales Cricket board (ECB) have awarded the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 marketing and advertising campaign to creative agency, MATTA.
The Champions Trophy is a 15 match ODI tournament featuring the top eight ranked teams in men’s cricket. The tournament kicks off with host nation England taking on Bangladesh at The Oval on 1st June 2017, followed by matches in Birmingham, Cardiff and London. The tournament final will be hosted at The Oval on 18th June.
It follows the agency’s appointment by Premiership Rugby to develop the brand and market events such as the Aviva Premiership Rugby final.

Zarah Al-Kudcy, head of marketing: ICC Global Tournaments 2017, at the ECB said: “We are delighted to have MATTA on board for the ICC Champions Trophy.
“In the pitch process, MATTA demonstrated a very detailed tournament sales strategy, with a campaign that captured the heroic nature of the tournament.”
Matt Hunt, brand and strategy director at MATTA, added: “I am thrilled that we now have the chance to work with the ICC and The ECB on this global sporting event.
“The ICC Champions Trophy is a fantastic tournament, and one which will see the world’s cricket talent convene in England and Wales for 15 games across eight teams, to crown one champion. We are very proud to be the agency leading the creative marketing for this event.”
