Iconic Clubbing Venue To Host Esc London

The eSkootr Championship, the electric scooter racing series which will launch later this year, has announced that iconic clubbing venue Printworks London will be the venue for its inaugural race on 13th May.

Located in Rotherhithe, South London, Printworks is a former printing planted that has been reconverted into multi-purpose venue comprising of six acres of private land with seven events spaces arranged over multiple levels.

According to a statement, each of the eSC race locations will embrace host city’s ‘urban culture and associated lifestyle’ with the specifically designed 600-metre track weaving its way in and out of the venue.

“This venue will enable us to bring the world’s first micromobility sport to the heart of urban London, emphasising eSC’s commitment to reimagining the racing experience for the fans, and at the same time developing the conversation around safer, sustainable and more liveable cities,” said Hrag Sarkissian, eSC Co-founder and CEO.

The eSC also announced the 30 riders that will make up the 2022 roster, including Team GB speed skater Elise Christie, BMX World Championship bronze medallist Tre Whyte and Olympic Games Snowboard bronze medallist Billy Morgan.

Commenting on rider line-up, Alex Wurz, eSC Co-founder, added, “With our riders coming from such diverse backgrounds, we have seen different styles and techniques emerging – a fascinating dynamic that is one of the hallmarks of our new sport and will make for incredibly exciting and unpredictable racing.”

According to the championship, more than 500 athletes applied through the eSC Rider Programme, with selected riders put forward into a draft to be chosen by the championship’s 10 teams.

The inaugural London round of the eSC will take place on 13th and 14th May, with tickets on sale via the championship’s official website.
