Award-winning actor, producer and DJ Idris Elba has joined Baller League UK as a team manager for its upcoming second season.

Elba will lead his new team, Rukkas FC, in the competitive six-a-side football league which launched in the UK earlier this year. The league features twelve teams led by a mix of football legends, artists, and creators.

Following its debut season, Baller League UK attracted over 7.7 million hours watched online. The format combines traditional football with new rules introduced in the final three minutes of each half, such as goals from behind the offside line counting double.

Elba joins a roster of team managers that has previously included Alan Shearer, Micah Richards, Chloe Kelly, John Terry and Maya Jama.

Idris Elba, said, “I am excited to be taking Rukkas FC into Baller League and collaborating with my friend Dean Forbes. Two guys with a love of the game, we have spent decades of our careers challenging the status quo and working to give second chances. We can’t wait to work with this next generation of talent. To our competitors, take note, we are here to win and take Rukkas FC all the way.”

Felix Starck, CEO of Baller League, said, “Following the huge success of Baller League in Germany and season one in the UK, we’re very excited to add Idris as a team manager for the second season to continue raising the levels of competition.”
