The Premier League’s success in marketing its international broadcast rights has continued, with IMG Media securing the next cycle of rights in Japan, Vietnam and Mongolia.
The deal was signed in the same week as MP & Silva secured the rights to a number of Pacific territories including New Zealand and Indonesia, and sees IMG Media take over a series of rights which MP & Silva has dramatically raised in value over the previous cycle.
‘We know IMG well and are extremely pleased that they have chosen to invest in the Premier League broadcasting rights for Japan, Vietnam and Mongolia,’ said Richard Scudamore, the CEO of the Premier League. ‘We look forward to working with them as they distribute the Barclays Premier League in a comprehensive and innovative manner to our fans in all three countries.’
The Premier League’s overseas rights have continually increased in value in recent years, with a number of major jumps ahead of the next cycle in territories including the USA, where a vastly increased deal was secured with NBC.
