IMG has secured a new four-year deal with BBC Sport to produce live coverage of the three major UK snooker tournaments until 2021.

The deal includes live and highlights coverage for the BBC of the World Championship, UK Championship and The Masters.

The new agreement will take the relationship between IMG and BBC Sport to nearly 25 years, having started working together back in 1997.

The World Championship began at the weekend, taking place at The Crucible in Sheffield, with the final taking place 7th May 2018. The UK Championship takes place 27th November – 9th December 2018, from the Barbican Centre in York. The Masters will take place next year, 13th – 20th January 2019, from Alexandra Palace in North London.

Alison Witkover, IMG’s executive producer, said: “Having developed an excellent relationship with the BBC over the past two decades, we are delighted to be continuing this partnership for a further four years. With more than 250 hours per season on BBC2, we are constantly trying to innovate and excite with our coverage of these prestigious events. These three tournaments are huge on the snooker calendar, both in terms of the quality of the players and their popularity with viewers.”

Philip Bernie, head of TV Sport at the BBC, said: “We are delighted to renew our snooker production contract with IMG. They have showcased the sport with great class and dedication and are committed to further developing their excellent production values in their coverage.”
