Ahead of the Third Specsavers Ashes test at Headingley, the ECB and Sky Sports have teamed up to make this ‘The Participation Test’.
Seeking to raise awareness of diversity and inclusion issues in the sport, each of the days will see a different topic thrust into the spotlight including the impact of the ICC Cricket World Cup, the ECB’s South Asian Action Plan – which won the Diversity and Inclusion Award at the 2019 Sport Industry Awards – and disability cricket.
The ECB has also announced England’s schedule for summer 2020, including internationals against the West Indies, Pakistan and Ireland, with three T20 matches against Australia ahead of the short format’s World Cup later in the year.
UEFA has announced the launch of eEURO 2020, the governing body’s new eSports tournament.
Coinciding with EURO 2020, the eSports competition will be the largest one to feature national teams, with all 55 UEFA member associations taking part. It will be played exclusively on Konami’s PES 2020 game, setting it in contrast to FIFA’s eWorld Cup, which is based on EA Sports’ FIFA series.
The NFL has agreed an extension of its media rights partnership with the BBC, which will see the broadcaster continue to show live American football on free to air TV in the UK.
The national broadcaster will have live rights to two of the 2019 NFL London Games and will also screen the 2020 Super Bowl, scheduled to be held in Miami in February. The weekly highlights show will also continue.
The Football Association of Wales has launched a new campaign for the women and girls’ game.
The BE.Football campaign aims to inspire young women and girls and will see the launch of a new Instagram channel @BeCymru which will be aimed at the younger demographic.
