Global data and integrity firm Sportradar – the sponsors of the Data and Business Impact Award at the Sport Industry Awards 2020 – has unveiled two new major international deals.

The organisation has agreed a multi-year exclusive global media rights distribution agreement with the Korean Football League – K League – which will see it develop a commercial strategy for the league’s entire suite of media and digital rights.

Meanwhile, Sportradar has also signed a first-of-its-kind MoU with APAJO, the Portuguese Association of Online Betting and Gambling. The collective agreement will see both parties explore opportunities to collaborate on greater integrity within the Portuguese betting market.

Amazon-owned streaming giant Twitch is to be sued £2.1 billion for its involvement in pirate broadcasts of the Premier League.

Rambler Group, who own the exclusive digital rights to the Premier League in Russia, claim that it’s agreement was breached by Twitch more than 36,000 times between August and November.

It is seeking 180 billion roubles (£2.1 billion) in damages, as well as the permanent banning of the platform within Russia.

The case will be heard on 20th December 2019. Twitch has claimed that the case is ‘unfounded’ and that the organisation has taken ‘all necessary measures to eliminate the violations, despite not receiving any official notification from Rambler’.

World Surf League has announced flip flop brand Havaianas as a new official partner, mirroring the success of Brazil across the international tour.

Launched by Tatiana Weston-Webb, Havainas will have a presence across all events and is set to create unique styles specific for CT level surfers ahead of the sport’s debut at Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.
