The BBC has announced that its coverage of England’s FIFA Women’s World Cup semi-final defeat by the United States was the most-watched television programme of the year to date.

England exited the World Cup on Tuesday evening following a 2-1 defeat to the US in Lyon, France. The game attracted a record-breaking peak TV audience of 11.7 million and peak share of 50.8%.

The figures smashed the previous best for a women’s game of 7.6 million for England’s quarter-final win over Norway on 27th June.

It is the fourth time a new record peak audience for women’s football has been set by the BBC during the 2019 World Cup. Peak figures are based on those watching for five minutes or more.

Global cryptocurrency exchange platform, CoinDeal, has extended its sleeve sponsorship deal with Premier League football club Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The new one-season contract will cover the 2019/20 campaign. The original deal, the world’s first cryptocurrency exchange football sponsorship, coincided with Wolves’ seventh-place finish in its return to the Premier League in 2018/19, a position that secured European football for the club in the UEFA Europa League for the first time in nearly 40 years.

To mark the agreement, the Polish company has made a new token, CDL, available free of charge to 320,000 existing users and to 130,000 new CoinDeal users. The CDL token provides higher liquidity within the CoinDeal exchange and additional pairings with cryptocurrencies and fiats.

Chinese smartphone brand OPPO has launched a new campaign to promote its sponsorship of the Wimbledon Championships.

For the first time in history, the ongoing Championships will be professionally captured on a smartphone – the OPPO Reno 5G. Working alongside the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC), OPPO has launched #AceTheShot in an effort to demonstrate the notable developments in smartphone camera technology.

As the tournament started on Monday, Official Wimbledon Photographer Jed Leicester undertook a challenge to deliver the event using the Reno 5G’s latest 10x hybrid zoom technology.

OPPO and the AELTC have also identified the best locations to #AceTheShot around the Grounds of Wimbledon. Throughout the tournament tennis fans and amateur photographers can get their hands on maps from the OPPO stand in the Wimbledon Queue and put their photography skills to the test.
