The ECB has named the returning red-ball county cricket tournament after England pace bowler Bob Willis, who passed away late last year.
All 18 counties will compete in the tournament from 1st August, before a truncated T20 Bast begins on 27th August.
Willis, England’s fourth leading wicket taker of all time, died at the age of 70 in Decemeber 2019 after battling a long illness.
KIN Partners has appointed Danny Paiser – formerly of IMG – to the newly created role of Senior Vice President, Commercial.
Paiser joins KIN from IMG’s football division where he was VP of Strategic Partnerships, and in his new role will lead the growth of the agency’s commercial offering. Paiser also previously spent time at City Football Group, responsible for the EMEA partnership portfolio.
The FA has announced that it’s received 142 applications for the England Women’s head coach role, with more than half of those meeting the criteria.
Current boss Phil Neville will leave the role next summer, and the FA’s Head of Women’s Football, Baroness Sue Campbell, claimed it had been an ‘unbelievable response’.
London Irish have confirmed that they will play the remainder of the 2019/20 Premiership Rugby season at The Stoop – the home of rivals Harlequins. London Irish were set to relocate to their new home at Brentford Community Stadium, however work was held up due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In a statement, Irish claimed that “we may be fierce competitors with Harlequins on the field, but even rivals can support each other during extraordinary times such as these.”
The PGA Tour has confirmed that it’s nine remaining tournaments will be played behind closed doors, as Covid-19 cases continue to rise across the USA.
The five tournaments that have taken place since the Tour’s resumption in June have all been without fans, but organisers were hopeful a return would be possible.
Premiership Rugby side Leicester Tigers have agreed a new technical partnership with Samurai Sportswear, who will become the team’s kit supplier for the next three years, replacing the outgoing Kukri.
STADS, a private marketplace firm focussed on in-stadium advertising co-founded by former Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero, has appointed British PR firm Bubble Agency to handle all digital and social media moving forward.
Bubble will manage press relations for the company, as well as a social media growth strategy.
