British Cycling’s CEO Julie Harrington has laid out the organisation’s plans for dealing with the coronavirus crisis.

In a statement she said that the governing body for cycling in Britain would be planning to lose some £4 million in income and would furlough 90 roles – around a third of the workforce – with some being furloughed in April and others in May. 


Specialist PR, social media and content creation agency SoapBox London has been appointed publicist for new Talksport Breakfast Show host and Sky Sports presenter Laura Woods.

SoapBox have been hired by Wood and her management agency M&C Saatchi Merlin tohelp guide and grow her media profile.


England Women’s stars such as Lucy Bronze, Alex Greenwood, Georgia Stanway and Jordan Nobbs have linked up with Google Cloud to back a campaign to ‘kick Coronavirus into touch’.

The Lionesses quartet are urging people across the UK to stay home, protect the NHS and ultimately save lives.


Start-up podcast producer HWY61 has launched with its first new series, The Neil Reynolds Podcast which debuted at No. 2 on the UK Sports iTunes rankings.

Founded by Garry Hayes and Matt Alabaster, HWY61 says it will concentrate largely on narrative podcasts, developing brands and telling stories across multiple seasons to engage a partisan audience of global sports fans. A further three sports podcasts are currently in production, with two focused on Premier League clubs. 


A GoFundMe page set up by Ian Finnis, Tommy Fleetwood’s caddy, aimed at raising funds for caddies on the European Tour during the coronavirus pandemic lockdowns raised £10,000 in less than a day.

Finnis distributed 1,000 raffle tickets at £10 each, with prizes including signed flags, a hat autographed by Fleetwood, bibs worn by caddies and an online golf psychology session. The initiative raised £10,000 in seven hours from around 460 donors.
