British Rowing has succeeded in its bid to host the 2022 World Rowing Coastal Championships and Beach Sprint Finals.

The events will take place over two weekends in October, and will be staged off Saundersfoot Beach in Wales in association with Welsh Rowing and supported by Welsh Sea Rowing. 

Some form of coastal rowing is in line to become part of the Olympic programme from Paris 2024, and British Rowing says the format offers an opportunity for the sport to broaden its reach into coastal communities and attract a younger, more diverse audience to the sport.


Manchester City have announced Capstone Games as its new Official Casual Mobile Game Partner in the UK, North America and Asia.  

As part of the deal, the game developer will produce a City-themed manager-style mobile game featuring players, kits and the Etihad Stadium.


Team GB bobsleigh athlete Vicky WIlliamson has fronted a new campaign aimed at increasing participation in women’s sport.

Sportside, an app which matches people looking for partners with whom to play various sports, have launched a Gender Play Gap campaign in a bid to empower women with the confidence to speak out and to make change happen.

The organisation has highlighted Sport England data which showed that participation in sport and physical activity had reached a high point before the coronavirus lockdown. Sportside says it hopes to encourage women of all ages to use the pandemic as a catalyst for getting active or for keeping up their fitness.


Sportradar has signed a ten-year data collection and distribution partnership with the European Handball Federation (EHF) which includes official data collection and distribution to media organisations and betting operators.
 
The multi-year agreements, set to run until 2030, will see Sportradar become the Official Data Partner of EHF and EHF Marketing, collect and distribute official EHF data to multiple media and betting entities. 

In addition, Sportradar will utilise the full breadth of its technological capabilities, including AI and machine learning, to develop new solutions for analysing data and identifying new insights to improve the sport.


Real time score app and live streaming service LiveScore has appointed PR agency MatchFit following a competitive pitch.

The agency will lead on communications and sponsorship PR activation, and will also create PR campaigns in support of LiveScore’s sponsorship portfolio – including their role as Official Global Scoring Partner of LaLiga.

The pair have already worked together as MatchFit announced the launch of LiveScore’s new OTT live streaming service, which will include coverage of the end of the 2019/20 Serie A season.


BT Sport has announced that it will remain free for pubs and clubs until August, and will be discounted until 2021.

According to the broadcasters, existing customers who recontract will receive a Back to Business offer, which includes a 70% discount in August, with the discount then decreasing on a monthly basis until the end of year, when standard charges will resume. 

BT says that, from July to December, those bars and clubs accepting the offer will avail of an average saving of 50% every month.
