Chelsea hosted the Premier League’s first fully vegan food kiosk during their tie with London rivals Arsenal, where outspoken vegan Hector Bellerin’s 87th minute equaliser consigned the game to an entertaining 2-2 draw.
Sports and leisure caterer Levy UK launched the initiative, which the club says is in line with its commitment to sustainability, offering more plant-based dishes modelled against the EAT Lancet ‘ideal plate’ for planetary and personal health.
Levy UK has also committed to delivering a 50% reduction in beef consumption at its stands as well as looking specifically at the carbon impact of the animal products used on site. Fans at Stamford Bridge, meanwhile, have been encouraged to refill reusable cups available at the ground before handing them back to drop-off points to be washed and used at the next matchday.
Tony Adams has signed with sports marketing and management agency Blueprint Sports.
The agency will handle the building of the former Arsenal and England captain’s personal commercial and broadcast work ahead of Euro 2020 and beyond. Adams is the current RFL President, as well as Honorary Life President of The Sporting Chance Charity and an ambassador for Mental Health.
Channel 5 has acquired the rights to broadcast WWE highlights, which will see Smackdown, Raw and WWE’s British brand NXT UK broadcast on terrestrial TV for the first time in the country.
WWE coverage left Sky Sports and moved to BT Sport earlier this month, but from 2nd February, Channel 5 will air a one-hour highlights show from both Smackdown and Raw every Saturday and Sunday at 10.30am.
American Express will offer 18-25 year old students the chance to go behind the scenes at Brighton and Hove Albion as part of a new scheme.
The credit card company is the main sponsor of the Premier League side and has announced that students who are studying an eligible university course can apply to learn what goes into running a top flight football club.
